Leonardtown resident Matthew Scott Hurry was attempting to cross the travel lanes on Three Notch Road and Laurel Grove Park in Laurel Grove when he was hit by a Ford F-150 driven by a 62-year-old Mechanicsville man, according to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened shortly after 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies said that they found Hurry suffering from “serious injuries,” and he was transported to an area hospital after receiving treatment and was listed in stable condition on Friday, Aug. 19, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said.

The initial investigation determined that Hurry failed to yield the right of way, which is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision.
